B&Q - Runner Bean Tenderstar 1 Seed Packet
A unique variety that brings together the best parts of both French beans and runner beans to produce smooth, mid-green, stringless pods with a delicious, true runner bean flavour and fabulous, tender texture. Runner Bean 'Tenderstar' produces an abundance of crop with pods that grow to 20cm (8") long, tolerate a variety of weather conditions and can be harvested from late summer to early autumn. Its spectacular pods are joined by small, pretty, bi-coloured red and white blooms throughout summer which adds to its charm. Try companion planting by growing runner beans with sweet peas to entice pollinators, or with Nasturtiums to draw aphids away from the crop. When growing runner beans provide a thick mulch of organic matter around the base of the plants to help conserve moisture and reduce weed growth. Water runner beans regularly, particularly as the flowers develop, and provide a liquid feed every 14 days during mid-summer. Pinch out the tips of the beans when they reach the top of their supports. Beans can be harvested from July onwards. Pick the beans regularly and a little on the young side to ensure top quality and prolonged cropping. Culinary note: Suitable for freezing. Refunds
